Can I keep and care for wildlife myself?

NO!

Keeping wild animals without a permit for more than 24-hours is illegal based on state and/or federal laws. Successful rehabilitation requires qualified, educated, and experienced caretakers who are familiar with the dietary, medical, and environmental needs of the animal. Rehabilitators have years of experience caring for hundreds to thousands of animals, and they also work closely with veterinarians who have years of formal education and clinical expertise that prepares them to care for wildlife.

When captive care is needed, bringing wildlife to a rehabilitator as soon as possible offers the animal the best chance for successful growth and/or recovery.
